Lewis Hamilton Planning Overhaul of His Team Internal Structure for 2026

Lewis Hamilton recently shared some insight into his plans for the 2026 F1 season following a tough debut year with Ferrari.

The seven-time world champion has revealed plans to shake up his team around him ahead of his second season with Ferrari in 2026.

Hamilton, who finished 12th in the final race in Qatar after being eliminated in Q1 of both qualifying sessions in Lusail, fired some negative comments about his own performance and Ferrari's competitiveness during the challenging first season with the team.

Going into the closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix of the season, the 40-year-old British driver promised major changes to his team before 2026, although he didn't provide any specific details about who might be involved.

"It's not an easy process," Hamilton told Sky Sports F1. "We'll obviously do a little testing next week, and then go back to the factory. and I have to make a decision on how I approach sitting down with the key stakeholders to make a decision, and how that approach will create the needed change."

"In terms of personal perfection, every Saturday night I write down what I feel I did wrong that weekend, the decisions I made. So, there's a lot to do there."

"During this off-season, I'll be analyzing those decisions and making marks on how I can make better decisions moving forward."

"My environment, both personally and team-wise, how you utilize the people, whether people need to be moved to different positions in order to work better."

"All these different things need to be considered in my own space so we can optimize our team's work."

When asked if the changes were necessary and that "things can't just stay like this year," Hamilton replied: "Of course not."

Hamilton didn't enjoy the current ground-effect generation and felt adapting to the Ferrari SF-25 was challenging.

When asked to compare his four-year struggles with the past year, Hamilton responded: "I couldn't compare it. Everything's different in its own way, and I'm in a different position. Each year, you're in a different position in life, so I won't compare it."

"It's tough. Confidence ebbs and flows. It is as it develops. It's challenging, but I still have full belief in my own abilities, and that's the most important thing. Holding onto that isn't always easy, but it's what's brought me to this point."

When asked what the biggest lesson learned from this year was, Hamilton said: "I'm tough. I've said it at the last race, I'm surprised how resilient I've been. If I can get through a season like this, then nothing can stop me from moving forward."
