KabarOto.com recently caught up with Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, who has been open about his life post-racing. In our latest scoop, he shares with us his latest endeavor, shedding light on his fascination with the world of art and the sale of his prized car collection.
As we near the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, held later this weekend in Baku, we sat down with Hamilton to talk about his current interest in the supercar market. Ferrari's latest F80 was a topic of discussion, but it was clear where his true passion lies.
‘I don't own any cars anymore. I've gotten rid of all of them now, I much prefer art,' Hamilton shared with us, as he prepares for the upcoming race.
Despite parting ways with his collection of 15 luxury vehicles, Hamilton holds a special place in his heart for one of the Ferrari legends – the F40. ‘If I had to choose one, it would have to be the F40. I think it's as beautiful as any piece of art,' he said, quoted from Crash.
This isn't the first time we've seen Hamilton express his admiration for Ferrari. Back in January, he was spotted posing in front of F40 outside Enzo Ferrari's workplace, Maranello.
Not to mention, during the F1 Australia opener, Hamilton expressed his desire to design his very own Ferrari model. ‘I want to create an F44, with the lines of the F40 but with a manual transmission. That's something I want to work on a few years from now,' Hamilton revealed.
Before parting ways with his collection, it was revealed that Hamilton stored his 15 luxury cars in his private garages in Monaco and Los Angeles. Some of the notable makes include the 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, totaling around $113 million.
By the way, Hamilton arrived in Baku with a sense of optimism, even after failing to secure a podium finish in his 16th race for Ferrari. His goal remains the same – to finally bring Ferrari to the podium.
‘A win might seem out of reach, considering I often finish between sixth and eighth this season. However, I hope to bring Ferrari onto the podium,' he expressed confidence about the upcoming race.
He further added, ‘I have found some useful insights, now it's time to apply them on the track. Fingers crossed that this weekend could be a turning point for us.'
