Massive Marlin Caught in Record-Breaking Catch

Morehead City, North Carolina, is buzzing with excitement after a nearly 920-pound marlin was caught during the annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.

The 68th edition of the tournament, held from June 5-14, saw the participating boat Marlin Fever hook the massive marlin on Day 2. The catch set a new Big Rock record, surpassing the previous mark of 914 pounds set in 2019.

'I knew it was big, but when we actually saw it jumping, I was like, 'No, that's too big. I don't want that one. Next one, please,'' said Marlin Fever mate Justin Petrilli.

The crew took about two hours to reel the fish in, securing their spot at the top of the leaderboard and netting an estimated $6.5-million purse.

As the largest sportsfishing event in the United States, the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament continues to draw in excitement and competition.
