Metallica's Kirk Hammett Takes a Tumble: Karma Bites After Trolling Taylor Swift Fans

Metallica's Kirk Hammett has taken a tumble – and some say karma has caught up with him.

A week after wearing a 'Taylor Swift Is a CIA Psyop' shirt during the band's Budapest concert, which outraged Taylor Swift fans worldwide, Hammett took a dramatic tumble from the stage during the Dublin show on June 19.

Hammett lost his footing while performing 'Seek & Destroy' and plunged guitar-first into the audience, who helped him back onto the stage with only a few missed chords. The accident was caught on camera, with fans capturing the incident on video.

Hmmmett poked fun at the mishap on Instagram, joking 'Slip and Destroy!!!' atop a video clip of his fall. However, the 60-year-old guitarist didn't address whether the Swifties' hex played a role in his spill.

The incident raises questions about the impact of provocative behavior on the stage – and whether artists should be held accountable for their online antics. When questioned about the shirt's message, fans of Taylor Swift had expressed outrage on social media, calling it 'disrespectful'.

'The shirt was a bad idea from the start,' said Swift fan Emily Lee. 'I mean, come on, who wears a shirt saying a famous artist is a CIA psyop? It's just a cry for attention.'

Metallica's June 19 show in Dublin was the band's first date of their current European tour. The gig featured a setlist that included fan favorites like 'Enter Sandman', 'Master of Puppets', and 'Nothing Else Matters.'

As for Hammett's future performances, fans will be watching closely to see if he's learned his lesson. Will the guitarist continue to push boundaries on stage, or will he choose to focus on the music? Only time will tell. For now, we can all enjoy the drama of that Dublin show – and perhaps a little bit of schadenfreude.
