Mirra Andreeva Clinches First Grand Slam Title at Roland Garros 2026

Mirra Andreeva, 19, quickly defeated qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 in 1 hour and 22 minutes, winning her first Grand Slam and Roland Garros title. She becomes the first Russian to win Roland Garros since Maria Sharapova in 2014, and the youngest since Monica Seles in 1992, and will approach the top 5 on Monday.

Her opponent, Maja Chwalinska, surprised everyone by going from the qualifying round to the final, ranked 114th in the world, and will jump 93 ranks and double her career earnings after the tournament, during a wild and unpredictable Roland Garros where favorites such as Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Coco Gauff all fell much earlier than expected. The competition, however, ended in the most logical way, as many expected Andreeva to become a multiple Grand Slam winner in her career.

Andreeva added her first Grand Slam title, which is also her sixth WTA title, including two WTA 1000 titles, in Dubai 2025 and Indian Wells 2025.
