Just a few weeks ago, the White Sox were looking at a tough upcoming schedule. But they've taken it in stride, making a statement against some of the top teams in baseball.
The stretch of games I am referring to includes two losses to the Phillies, but then taking both games from the Braves, with the third game being rained out. They followed that up by winning two out of three from the defending champion Dodgers, which is a big statement in itself.
In fact, the White Sox went 4-1 against the teams with the two best records in baseball. That's a huge accomplishment, especially considering their start to the season, which was 6-13. Since then, they've gone 32-19, which is only bettered by the Yankees in the American League.
The White Sox are now in a virtual tie for first place with the Guardians, with 38 wins in 70 games. To put that into perspective, they didn't win their 38th game last season until they had already lost 66 games.
Next up for the White Sox is a series in the Bronx against the Yankees, who are without their star player Aaron Judge. The White Sox are looking feisty, and it will be interesting to see how they stack up against the Yankees.
