Mohamed Salah Reportedly Set to Shockingly Leave Liverpool for Massive European Club to Team Up with Man City Legend

Mohamed Salah is reportedly set to reject a lucrative offer to join the Saudi Pro League and instead opt to stay in Europe. The Egyptian star is confirmed to be leaving Liverpool as a free agent at the end of the season, but it appears Turkey, not the Middle East, will be his next destination.

In a surprising development, Turkish giants Fenerbahce are reportedly leading the race to sign Salah. Despite being linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League for several seasons, reports from Turkey suggest that Salah is not yet ready to leave European football just yet. According to A Spor, Fenerbahce officials have held two meetings with Salah's representatives to discuss a potential deal.

The 33-year-old is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season after nine trophy-laden years with the Reds. Although he initially extended his contract until 2027, the club have agreed to let him leave as a free agent as part of a mutually beneficial departure. Fenerbahce are said to be aware of the significant financial outlay required to sign the winger, with Salah reportedly asking for a weekly salary of around £333,000 - a figure that would keep him among the highest-earning players in the world.

Salah will join a squad that contains a plethora of young talent and a former Premier League rival if he makes the move to Istanbul. Fenerbahce have been aggressive in the transfer market, recently signing former Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson and World Cup-winning midfielder N'Golo Kante.

The attraction of staying in the competitive European environment appears to be a major factor in Salah's decision-making. Despite PIF Saudi reportedly viewing him as a top target to replace Cristiano Ronaldo as their club's icon, Salah remains tight-lipped. Fenerbahce are not the only club tracking the situation, with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich also rumored to be interested, according to Ibrahim Hassan, the director of the Egyptian national team. Hassan publicly urged Salah to avoid a move that would take him away from the elite level of football. "Personally, I prefer him to stay in Europe," Hassan told ON Sport. "I have heard that there are offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and clubs in Italy."

Hassan also warned against a move to Major League Soccer, where New York City FC have publicly expressed interest. "Moving to MLS? He'd be too far from the spotlight. You'd forget about him just as I'd forget about Lionel Messi now. I even stopped watching him," Hassan added.

Before any transfer can be confirmed, Salah will focus on contributing to his final months with Liverpool. His recent injury to his left thigh muscle during the 3-1 win against Crystal Palace raised concerns that he may have played his last game for the Reds. However, he is expected to return before the end of the season to give a suitable farewell to the loyal supporters at Anfield.
