Mohamed Salah's Transfer Options Limited Amid Premier League Interest Wane

Mohamed Salah has been warned that his transfer options for the summer window are dwindling as his legendary status at Liverpool fades. Despite his reputation as one of the best players in Premier League history, former Reds' midfielder, Didi Hamann, believes that Salah's recent contribution to the team, which has been mostly through open play, indicates a decline in performance that may lead top English clubs to overlook him.

Hamann made his blunt assessment during an interview with BetKing, stating, 'I'm not sure if there's a club in the Premier League that's interested.' He added, 'I think it's no secret that he's gone past his prime. If you look at the last 18 months, he's only scored a few goals from open play since Christmas two years ago. So, I'd be surprised if there's a Premier League club that's interested.' Hamann suggested that Saudi Arabia, MLS, or Italy might be potential destinations for the Egyptian star.

Despite being a global superstar, the financial demands of securing his signature might significantly limit his options. Hamann dismissed the possibility of Salah joining a Bundesliga club or one of the Spanish giants, citing financial and tactical reasons that would make such a move impractical.

The German football expert explained, 'He's played in Italy for a long time. In Italy, as you know, they love older players with experience, so I can imagine him ending up there. I can't imagine him playing for the top Spanish clubs. I also can't imagine him playing in Germany because they won't be able to afford his salary.'

Despite the criticism, Salah remains focused on ending his career at Liverpool on a high note. The striker recently expressed his frustration at having to constantly prove himself, a sentiment that Hamann believes is inappropriate for a player of his caliber.

'You should do it because what matters is not what he's done in the past, but what he'll do now and in the future,' Hamann said. Salah is set to leave Liverpool this summer after nine years of top-class performances, during which he has become a modern icon at Anfield, scoring 257 goals in 435 appearances.

With his departure now confirmed, questions arise about where the 33-year-old will play next season. Salah has scored 12 goals in 39 appearances this season, a disappointing campaign for Liverpool overall and a decline in individual performance that has led some to speculate that his time at the top of European football may be drawing to a close.
