Montee Redefines UK Garage with Emotionally Charged Single 'High on You'

German producer Montee has carved out a specific lane — tracks that hit on the dancefloor but refuse to leave their emotional baggage at the door. On the surface, it's a house and UK garage cut built for movement, with a familiar swung, syncopated pulse that is propulsive and immediate. This is the kind of rhythm that does exactly what it needs to do in a club at 1am, making it a staple for any DJ looking to get the crowd moving.

However, when you sit with the track a little longer, the tension underneath becomes impossible to ignore. Montee has described 'High On You' as a meditation on emotional dependence — the pull between walking away from someone and going back, the strange comfort of intensity over emptiness. This is heavy subject matter for a dancefloor record, and the fact that it works at all is a credit to how carefully the production holds both things at once. As Montee himself notes, 'I was inspired by my own experiences with sobriety and the emotional discomfort that comes with it. I wanted to create a track that captured that feeling of being torn between two worlds.'

There's real candour here too, as Montee connects the track to his own experience with sobriety. He explains that the silence and stillness that come with sobriety can be louder than chaos, and that stillness has to be sat with rather than escaped. This vulnerability adds a layer of depth to the track, making it more than just a dancefloor filler. As Montee puts it, 'I believe that music should be honest and raw, and I hope that 'High On You' conveys that sense of vulnerability and emotion.'

Production-wise, 'High On You' is sharp and considered, with melodic elements that ache with longing layered over rhythm that never lets up. The friction and groove exist in the same breath, creating a sense of tension and release that keeps the listener engaged. This is club music that doesn't ask you to switch your feelings off, which is rarer than it should be. Montee's productions are a testament to the power of music to evoke emotions and create connections with others.

In terms of the track's implications, 'High On You' is a game-changer for the UK garage scene. It proves that dance music can be both emotionally resonant and physically compelling, and that the two are not mutually exclusive. As Montee looks to the future, he hopes to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in electronic music. 'I'm excited to see where this sound takes me,' he says. 'I'm always looking for new ways to express myself and connect with others through music.'

Looking ahead, Montee's future outlook is bright. With 'High On You' already making waves in the UK garage scene, he is poised to take the world by storm. His unique sound and emotional honesty have resonated with fans and critics alike, and he is sure to continue creating music that inspires and uplifts.
