New York City erupted in joy as the Knicks claimed the NBA championship, with celebrations taking place from Madison Square Garden to Times Square and across all five boroughs.

The city had waited 53 years for this moment, and the team's owner, James Dolan, couldn't wait to get his hands on the 30-pound gold-plated trophy, lifting it skyward with a triumphant yell.

Dolan shouted to the crowd, 'I want to say something to New York: Hey New York, I'm sorry it took so long, but here we are, and hopefully it won't take that long again.'.

The Knicks' incredible playoff run, which included 13 consecutive wins and a stunning comeback from 29 points down in Game 4, has captured the hearts of the city.

The team's victory has made them the toast of the town, with excitement and celebrations spreading throughout New York.
