Nottingham Forest vs. Bayer Leverkusen: A Crucial Pre-Season Encounter

The stage is set for a thrilling pre-season friendly encounter as Bayer Leverkusen travel to face Nottingham Forest at The City Ground on August 12. Leverkusen will be aiming to extend their impressive winning streak, which has seen them win all of their prior pre-season fixtures against a mix of local and international opposition. The German side kicked off their preparations with dominant victories against SF Baumberg and Kickers Offenbach before impressively dispatching Belgian side Genk 4-0. Carles Martínez's charges then beat 3. Liga side Rot-Weiss Essen 3-0 before getting the better of Spanish outfit Sevilla 2-1 last time out. This win streak is a clear indication of Leverkusen's strong team bonding and chemistry, which has been a key factor in their success.

Leverkusen will face their toughest test yet in the English Premier League side, Nottingham Forest. Forest have managed warm-up victories over English lower league opposition Notts County and Blackburn Rovers before a trio of fixtures against Portuguese sides Vitória S.C., Portimonense S.C., and Sporting CP. The Reds then faced Udinese and Barcelona, losing both games 1-0. Forest's recent performances suggest that they have a solid foundation and are capable of challenging Leverkusen. The tie is expected to be a closely contested and high-intensity match, with both teams eager to test their fitness and tactics before the start of the new season.

For Leverkusen, the absence of Robert Andrich and Montrell Culbreath due to injuries will be a significant blow. The latter is set to miss the start of the 2026/27 season with a foot injury. Meanwhile, Kennet Eichhorn is still unavailable, and Eliesse Ben Seghir continues to nurse a hamstring complaint. Leverkusen's team management will need to carefully select their starting lineup to ensure that they field a strong and balanced team. Coach Carles Martínez will be keen to rotate his squad and ensure that all players get enough game time to be in optimal shape.

Nottingham Forest will be looking to draw inspiration from their previous matches, where they showed resilience and determination in the face of adversity. The team's recent losses against Udinese and Barcelona will serve as a valuable experience and will help them to fine-tune their tactics and strategies. Forest's manager will likely instruct his team to focus on quick counter-attacks and exploit Leverkusen's vulnerable defensive areas. The team's recent additions in the transfer market will also give them an edge in terms of depth and experience.
