Now or Never: Charles Leclerc's Ultimatum for Ferrari in 2026

Charles Leclerc has warned Ferrari that 2026 is the time to produce a car capable of challenging for the F1 title.

Ferrari had a disappointing 2025 F1 season, failing to win a single Grand Prix and finishing fourth in the constructor's championship, their worst result since 2020.

The SF-25 was struggling from the start, with a combination of underperformance and mechanical issues.

The excessive wear on the plank forced the two Ferraris to be disqualified from the Chinese Grand Prix.

Ferrari was forced to adopt a conservative approach to avoid further difficulties, only really unlocking their potential at the Belgian Grand Prix with the introduction of a new suspension package.

Despite some notable performances, including seven podiums for Leclerc, Ferrari were consistently outpaced by Red Bull and Mercedes after the summer break.

The team's poor performance, coupled with their inability to give Leclerc a car capable of challenging for the title, has sparked renewed speculation about his future.

Leclerc has been with Ferrari since 2019, but without a world title to his name – a situation he hopes to change in 2026.

Astounding that Ferrari started the 2022 season with the fastest car, only to falter midway through the campaign due to poor development, strategic mistakes, and reliability issues.

This year's near-miss in their quest for the constructor's title was Leclerc's most consistent season so far, but even that was marred by high expectations.

The arrival of Lewis Hamilton in 2023 was seen as a turning point, but instead Leclerc found himself watching from the sidelines as Norris, Piastri, and Verstappen fought for the title, while he was left with just seven podiums and no wins to show.

After another underwhelming season at Ferrari, Leclerc seems to be reevaluating his future, with Aston Martin reportedly showing a strong interest in signing him for 2027.

Firm that 2026 must be the right starting point.

This is tough, but at the same time, I believe the whole team is very motivated for next year,' he said after finishing fourth in Abu Dhabi.

'Because this is a huge change, a big opportunity to show Ferrari's capabilities, and now or never.

So, I very much hope we'll start this new era with the right step, because that's crucial for the next four years.'
