NYPD Boss Jessica Tisch Praises Cops for Heroic Efforts During Knicks Victory Celebrations

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) worked tirelessly to keep the peace as the city celebrated the Knicks' NBA championship win.

Although some fans marred the party with violence, resulting in 63 arrests, one shooting, and four stabbings, with 10 cops injured, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch praised her officers for their hard work.

NYPD officers worked through a "long and grueling night" as wild victory parties erupted across New York City, including violent incidents such as a Spurs fan being attacked and a school bus set ablaze near Time Square.

Commissioner Tisch applauded her team for their bravery and diligence in maintaining order, keeping people safe, and ensuring that the celebrations remained celebratory and not violent.

Many officers canceled days off to help police the event, while some endured shifts of more than 12 hours to assist with Sunday's Puerto Rican Day Parade and FIFA watch parties.

The NYPD is now preparing for Thursday's championship parade.
