LAFC has been one of the top teams in the MLS this season, with a strong lineup and a talented roster. The team has been led by star players such as Son Heung-Min, who has recorded 25 goal contributions in just 26 MLS appearances, including playoffs. LAFC has also been impressive on defense, with a league-record six straight clean sheets to start the season. The team's head coach, Marc Dos Santos, has been pleased with the team's performance so far, and is looking forward to the match against the Galaxy. As Dos Santos noted, 'We're happy to get Sonny, Shaff, Mathieu all back. They're happy to be back. They missed it here also. They needed a break. Sonny needed a break after the World Cup. I gave Matt and Shaff also a little break, but they all feel good. They all feel energized, and they're all gonna be in the game against the Galaxy.'

The Galaxy, on the other hand, has faced significant challenges this season, including the departure of top goal scorer Gabriel Pec and defender Mauricio Cuevas. The team has also been dealing with injuries, including a recent injury to striker Joao Klauss. Despite these challenges, the Galaxy has been working to rebuild its roster, including the signing of free-agent forward Robert Taylor through the end of the 2026 season. Taylor, who most recently played with Austin FC, is expected to make an immediate impact on the team. As the Galaxy looks to fill the hole at the number 9 position, Taylor's arrival is a significant boost to the team's attacking capabilities.
