The future of Sergio Perez at Red Bull Racing has finally been revealed. The Mexican driver will not be racing for Red Bull in the 2025 Formula 1 season.
In a surprising move, Red Bull Racing has announced the arrival of a new driver, Isack Hadjar, who will be joining their family.
However, Hadjar will not be replacing Perez directly, instead, he will be driving for RB, a team under the Red Bull Racing umbrella.
'I am grateful for the past four years with Oracle Red Bull Racing and the opportunity to have raced with an incredible team,' Perez stated.
Perez expressed his appreciation for the experience, saying it was one he would never forget, and that he had the privilege of meeting many amazing people during his time with the team.
The mystery now shifts to the composition of the drivers for the main Red Bull Racing team and RB. Previously, Perez was paired with four-time world champion Max Verstappen, but now the spotlight is on Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, who have been driving for RB.
Hadjar is confirmed to drive for RB in the upcoming season, while Lawson and Tsunoda await the team's announcement. Between the two, Tsunoda seems to have a stronger chance of replacing Perez.
A strong signal that Tsunoda might take Perez's place was seen after the final race in Abu Dhabi, where Tsunoda was spotted testing the Red Bull Racing car alongside Hadjar.
Perez, who still had a contract with Red Bull Racing until the 2026 season, had to relinquish his seat to another driver. His underwhelming performance during the 2024 season complicated the situation, especially with his teammate Verstappen delivering a solid performance and securing his fourth world championship title.
The Austrian team also suffered a significant blow, losing the constructors' championship title to McLaren.
Red Bull Racing announces the departure of Sergio Perez and introduces Isack Hadjar to their team, amidst speculations about the future of their driver lineup.
