Red Sox News & Analysis: Can the Sox Land a Big Prize at the Trade Deadline?

News and updates from around Red Sox Nation.

Sean McAdam writes that Craig Breslow's job security is precarious, citing various offseason moves that have been successful, including the trade for Willson Contreras. Contreras is on pace to hit 38 home runs, which would break his previous career high of 24.

Another successful offseason move was signing Wilyer Abreu to get at-bats against left-handed pitching. His success in this area is not coincidental.

Despite the Red Sox's success this season, Contreras and Abreu are unlikely to be All-Stars. The first round of voting has already begun, and no Red Sox player is close to making the team.

Analysis suggests the Padres could be a good fit for Jarren Duran, while the White Sox might be a good trade partner for Sonny Gray and Aroldis Chapman. However, some executives are skeptical that the Red Sox will get a big haul in a trade.

Some executives view Sonny and Aroldis as one-year deals, which is a big buyout.

Despite trade rumors, Sonny Gray isn't paying attention. He says he's focused on the present and not on being traded. Others may be trying to do his job for him.
