TRIBUNNEWS.COM - The name Henry Nowak is once again in the spotlight in England as new details about his death are revealed to the public.

The 18-year-old student caught the public's attention after a body camera recording released on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) showed him being restrained while repeating that he had been stabbed in an incident back in December 2025.

Vickrum Digwa (23), the man who stabbed Henry Nowak, was found to have lied to the police, claiming that the student had committed racism against him.

Digwa was subsequently sentenced to life in prison on Monday (June 1, 2026).

The case has sparked a wave of criticism towards the police.

Protests also erupted in Southampton, near the location where Nowak lost his life.

According to Sky News, Henry Nowak was the youngest of four siblings who were raised in Chafford Hundred, Essex.

He was a first-year accounting and finance student at the University of Southampton.

In the judgment delivered by Judge William Mousley, Nowak was described as a kind-hearted, hardworking, ambitious, and family-loving young man.

Henry Nowak's father, Mark Nowak, broke down in tears as he read a statement in court.

"There's a hole in our family that will be there forever, and nothing can fill it," he said.

"If I could trade places so that all four of them can be together again, I would do it without hesitation."

Henry's mother, Lucy Ross, said that her son's death was a tragic and unimaginable situation that has left her feeling unbearable pain.

she also mentioned that Henry was the first grandchild of her family and that his achievement of getting into university was a source of huge pride for them.

Henry's godmother, Kelly Hatchard, wrote on Facebook that Henry was a loving, caring, intelligent, and hardworking young man.

The judgment was met with an outpouring of support for the Nowak family from social media users.

The incident has left many questioning the conduct of the police and their handling of the situation.
