Rhode Island to Sit Out 250th Anniversary Fair Due to Budget Concerns

The Rhode Island250 Commission announced that Rhode Island will not participate in the Great American State Fair due to financial and staffing limitations.

The state fair is a 16-day celebration to mark America's 250th birthday.

The event at the National Mall is hosted by Freedom 250, a nonprofit organization organizing President Donald Trump's nation-wide events for the anniversary.

Rhode Island had initially planned to celebrate this milestone by hosting its own events across the state during the same timeframe, so they will not be participating in the Great American State Fair.

Multiple states, including Massachusetts, have also dropped out of the celebration.
