Robert Pattinson's Impact on Tom Holland's Career: Why He Was 'The Safety Blanket' on 'The Odyssey'

Tom Holland has credited Robert Pattinson as his 'safety blanket' on the set of 'The Odyssey', praising his ability to bring a sense of authenticity and tension to their on-screen rivalry. This is not the first time the two actors have collaborated, having worked together on three previous films: 'The Riot Club', 'The Lost City of Z', and 'The Devil All the Time'. Their chemistry on screen has been a key factor in the success of 'The Odyssey', and it's clear that Pattinson's presence has had a profound impact on Holland's career.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Holland explained that he was 'really nervous' about making sure the friction between their characters felt authentic and scary enough for his character, Telemachus, to make the desperate decision to go on a journey to find answers about his father, Odysseus. However, as soon as he learned that Pattinson would be playing Antinous, the chief malicious contender for Penelope's hand, Holland felt a sense of relief and could 'relax' knowing that Pattinson was on board. 'You're so good at being a dickhead,' Holland quipped, which left Pattinson and their colleagues in stitches.

The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, is an epic poem from ancient Greece that has been brought to life on the big screen with an immense cast, including Matt Damon as Odysseus, Zendaya as Athena, and Benny Safdie as Agamemnon. The film tells the story of Odysseus' journey home from the Trojan War, which is delayed for years, allowing gluttonous suitors to infest the family home in an attempt to become the new king of Ithaca. Pattinson's character, Antinous, is one of the main suitors, and his rivalry with Holland's Telemachus is a key part of the story.
