Royals Snap Losing Streak Behind Strong Pitching Effort vs. Astros

The Royals finally got things right on Sunday, ending a streak of frustration with a convincing win over a tough opponent.

The Kansas City Royals beat the Houston Astros 4-0 at Kauffman Stadium, putting an end to their four-game losing streak and avoiding a sweep.

Manager Matt Quatraro praised his team's attitude and competitive spirit, saying, 'These guys are competing their butts off. Every one of these games in this homestand was a tough game one way or the other.'

The Royals scored first when Maikel Garcia singled to bring in Bobby Witt Jr., and they added three more runs in the fourth inning, thanks in part to a double from Garcia that brought in two more runs.

Stephen Kolek pitched a stellar 7 1/3 innings, allowing zero runs with four strikeouts and just five hits and one walk.

Garcia was a standout performer, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. He hit an RBI single to bring in the Royals' first run, then doubled in the fifth inning to give the Royals a 4-0 lead.

The Royals also showcased their speed, stealing four bases throughout the game. The team's aggressive base-running was a key strategy, especially against Astros starter Spencer Arrighetti.

Looking ahead, the Royals will travel to Washington, D.C. to face the Nationals. The series begins Monday at 5:45 p.m. Central time.
