Russian Warship Fires Warning Shots at UK Yacht in the English Channel

A Russian warship has fired warning shots at a UK-registered yacht in the English Channel, according to sources familiar with the incident.

The incident occurred when the yacht approached the Russian frigate Admiral Grigorovich, which was being monitored by the Royal Navy patrol vessel HMS Mersey.

The UK Ministry of Defence has confirmed that it is investigating reports of the incident, which took place about 20 nautical miles south of the Isle of Wight, outside UK territorial waters.

No injuries or damage to the yacht were reported, and the incident is being closely watched due to heightened tensions between Russia and the UK.

This incident comes after British commandos intercepted a sanctioned Russian oil tanker in the Channel on Sunday, in an operation to disrupt Russia's oil revenue.
