Ryan Fox Becomes Third Golfer to Make History at the British Open

Ryan Fox, a 39-year-old golfer from New Zealand, has made history by becoming the third golfer to shoot a 62 at the British Open. This impressive feat took place on Saturday, where Fox carded nine birdies and had only one bogey. His outstanding round got him to 8-under par and tied him for the lead with the other golfers who had yet to tee off.

Fox's achievement is a testament to his skill and determination. He had a solid warm-up session on Friday, which contributed to his exceptional performance. Fox stated, 'Being picky, I'd want a couple of drives back today maybe, but outside of that, I feel like I didn't really miss a shot.' He also mentioned that he had a good warm-up session yesterday and felt well-prepared for the game.

The pins were strategically placed in difficult spots, which added to the challenge of Fox's round. Xander Schauffele, his partnering golfer, commended Fox's excellent play, saying, 'You'd take a 62 anywhere. If it's in a major, it's a cherry on top. But on a Saturday, it's even better.' Schauffele himself shot a 4-under-par 66 on Saturday and praised Fox's impressive performance, stating that he was 'hitting it close, making the putts he should make.'

Fox's achievement is all the more remarkable given his history with majors. He has played in 28 major championships and has only two top-20 finishes. Fox's incredible round has not only brought him closer to the top but has also set a high standard for himself and other golfers. When asked about his goal, Fox replied, 'It's nice to be in that headspace, hopefully, I can find something similar [Sunday]'. His focus is on maintaining his momentum and achieving his goals.

The British Open is one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world, and Fox's achievement has sent shockwaves throughout the golfing community. Fox's 62 is the eighth one posted in major championship history, joining the ranks of Xander Schauffele and Scottie Scheffler, who have both achieved this feat twice.
