Saudi Aramco Delays LPG Shipment Until May After Facility Damage

Nicholas Lua and colleagues report that Saudi Aramco has delayed next month's shipment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) after a key export facility was damaged in late February, according to people with knowledge of the situation.

The state-owned oil producer told buyers last week that it would continue to postpone shipments from LPG facility Juaymah until May, these people said, asking not to be named because the information has not been publicly disclosed.

Saudi Aramco declined to comment.

The company's LPG exports have been halted since the supporting structure at the facility collapsed ahead of the conflict in the Middle East in February, triggering a surge in prices and a scramble for replacement supplies.

The conflict has resulted in the near closure of the main export route through the Strait of Hormuz, causing an energy shortage in Asia and a LPG crisis in India, where LPG is widely used for cooking.
