The Mariners' starting pitcher, George Kirby, had a difficult outing, allowing five earned runs in 4 2/3 innings. This performance was uncharacteristic of Kirby, who has typically been a reliable and consistent member of the team's rotation. Despite this, the Mariners' offense showed signs of life, with Randy Arozarena doubling to left field and scoring the game's first run on a Dom Canzone single. The Mariners' relievers, including Michael Rucker, Gabe Speier, and Eduard Bazardo, combined for 5 1/3 perfect innings to get through the ninth inning. This impressive performance set the stage for Muñoz to close out the game in the 10th inning. However, the Astros' Altuve and Varsho had other plans, with back-to-back two-strike singles that kept the Astros alive. Walker then followed with the game-winning home run, capping off a stunning finish to the game. As the Mariners reflect on this loss, they will need to consider what went wrong and how they can improve in the future. This may involve making adjustments to their bullpen strategy or finding ways to better support their relievers.

The implications of this loss are significant, as the Mariners are now a season-worst six games back in the division. The team will need to regroup and refocus if they hope to remain competitive in the American League West.
