Sega Announces Crazy Taxi: World Tour, Coming to Multiple Platforms in 2027!

The iconic arcade racing series from Sega is gearing up for a big comeback in the modern gaming industry. At the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, Sega officially unveiled their latest flagship title, Crazy Taxi: World Tour. The big announcement has sparked nostalgia for gamers who grew up with the classic consoles.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour brings back the chaotic taxi driving action to a global scale, ensuring that every player can enjoy the thrill of extreme driving on their preferred platform. The developer made sure that the game will have a cross-platform release to reach a wider audience.

The legendary Crazy Taxi: World Tour is scheduled to launch in 2027. Players can experience the game on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The PC version will be available on Steam and Microsoft Store.

Behind the scenes of this latest project, Sega openly revealed that they utilized artificial intelligence (AI) during the game's development. This modern technology was applied to assist the development team in enhancing the content quality and efficiency for players.

Despite using AI, classic series fans don't need to worry about the game's authenticity. Sega guaranteed that the AI was not used to create characters or voice actors for the game. This announcement demonstrates Sega's commitment to maintaining ethical boundaries in digital technology within the creative industry.

The Crazy Taxi: World Tour project is the next step in Sega's long-term plan to reboot the waralaba. As a reminder to #Kaoreaders, the series first began its debut in February 1999 before it became a legend through iconic porting on the Sega Dreamcast. Since then, the series has consistently grown with several main sequels and handheld releases, such as Crazy Taxi: Catch a Ride for Game Boy Advance and Crazy Taxi Fare Wars for PlayStation Portable.

Not stopping at traditional consoles, Sega has also expanded significantly to mobile phones in the following years. They released Crazy Taxi City Rush and Crazy Taxi Tycoon games, although the latter was eventually removed from app stores. The upcoming Crazy Taxi World Tour in the future is expected to be both a nostalgic treat and a brand new chapter.
