Shia LaBeouf Brings John McEnroe's Legendary Tennis Spirit to Life

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NEW YORK - Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf is set to portray tennis legend John McEnroe in the upcoming biopic 'Borg / McEnroe.' A short trailer released by Empire showcases the 31-year-old actor alongside Sverrir Gudnason, who plays McEnroe's arch-nemesis, Swedish tennis star Bjorn Borg.

Sourced from Ace Showbiz, Wednesday (5/7), the 30-second trailer offers a glimpse into the story where Shia is depicted as the number one tennis player in the United States. In the video, Shia is seen uttering McEnroe's famous phrase, 'You can't be serious!'

The film is directed by Janus Metz. The intense competition between McEnroe and Borg on the court is a dominant theme in the movie, with the two players seemingly embodying fire and ice.

The tennis match between the two took center stage, taking place in 1978-1981, when both of them won seven matches. 'Borg / McEnroe' is set to hit theaters worldwide in September this year.

The film also features other notable cast members, including Stellan Skarsgard, Ian Blackman, Tuva Novotny, and Leo Borg, who plays a young Borg.
