Mohamed Salah officially departs from Liverpool after serving the club for nine seasons at Anfield.
Last seen on the field, Salah's departure marks the end of an illustrious era filled with significant trophies. The heartbreaking moment closes a long chapter in the life of the Egyptian star after nine years of dedicated service to the team.
In a shocking move, both Salah and fellow stalwart Andy Robertson bid farewell to the Merseyside faithful.
With both stars exiting the club, Liverpool's management faces a pressing need to revamp the squad and prepare for the future.
The highly anticipated Piala Dunia is just around the corner, and it remains to be seen how the duo will fare this time around.
'I think I cried more than I've ever cried in my life,' Salah said in a Sky Sports interview, his emotions pouring out in an emotional farewell.
'I'm not an emotional person. We've spent our youth here, sharing everything from the beginning to the end. We've brought this club back to where it belongs. [Robertson] is loved because he gives everything on the pitch. They love him for it,' added the player.
A sea of Liverpool supporters filled the stadium with a poignant chant of appreciation as Salah was escorted off during the second half. A somber atmosphere engulfed the whole field as the final whistle blew.
'It's difficult for us to be leaving Liverpool. He's super important for the team and the time we've had. I'm highly honored for sharing the locker room with him.
'He's there for the team. I'm grateful for sharing the locker room with him,' Salah said of his teammate.
The harmony between the players and fans has remained strong until the very last moments of Salah's stay in England.
As they bid farewell to the team, Salah expressed his gratitude for the experience he shared at Liverpool.
'It's life. I look back and ask if I want more than what I've achieved. I do not. We've won everything. We've seen the love from the fans, and this is the most important for me,' he stated firmly.
'I'll be far away from here. I'll always be emotional at any time. I expect the team to stay in its position, fighting for everything,' concluded the Egyptian star.
The loss of these two pillars has marked the end of a fierce rivalry against Manchester City in the league.
Both players are now set to face new challenges outside of English football.
'[I am] emotionally exhausted,' Robertson reflected on his final packed week at the club.
'It's been a busy week for trying to keep your emotions in check and saying goodbye to those who need to be said goodbye to. Pep Guardiola pushed us to new limits. We should have won more Premier League titles if not for him,' said the left-back.
'[Seamus Coleman] leaving Everton was like a massive loss for the club. We both know that we will be welcomed back at the club in the years to come.
'This is a huge chapter in our book, but it's not the end. First and foremost, we need to take a break and focus on the Piala Dunia. I know this is our family.
Salah and Robertson were both brought to Merseyside in the summer 2017 transfer market. During nearly a decade of service, the duo successfully contributed to one UEFA Champions League title and two English Premier League trophies.
Salah's final season was marred by controversy related to his future as well as criticisms on his tactics on social media.
However, the thrilling 1-1 draw against Brentford served as a poignant farewell, free of any resentment from the fans.
