The Ultimate Speculation: Will Max Verstappen Replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes Next Year?

Sakhir, investortrust.id – Speculations rose after Max Verstappen's father, Jos Verstappen, was spotted discussing with Mercedes Team Principal, Toto Wolff, during the Formula 1 GP Bahrain, last weekend. Apparently, Mercedes is in talks with the Verstappen team to replace Lewis Hamilton next year. But is it true?

Red Bull Racing faced a huge crisis during the GP Bahrain. First, Team Principal Christian Horner was accused of harassment via WhatsApp against one of Red Bull's female employees.

After an intense internal investigation, Christian Horner was found not guilty of the allegations.

However, things took a turn for the worse when on Friday (March 1, 2024), hundreds of journalists and Formula 1 Team Principals received a Google Drive link that allegedly contained evidence of Christian Horner's harassment against the female Red Bull employee.

Just as the scandal was about to die down, another controversy arose. On Saturday (March 2, 2024), at the paddock of the Sakhir circuit, Jos Verstappen was spotted meeting with Toto Wolff. This meeting is believed to be an attempt by Jos Verstappen to discuss the possibility of Max Verstappen joining Mercedes next year.

This meeting came after Max Verstappen expressed his concerns about the situation at Red Bull Racing in a Daily Mail interview, labeling Christian Horner as a threat to the team's harmony. Jos Verstappen stated that the current situation cannot continue and may lead to the downfall of the team, going as far as saying that Max Verstappen might leave Red Bull at the end of the season if Christian Horner remains in his position.

Meanwhile, Mercedes will be losing Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari. This means there's a vacant seat at Mercedes for the 2025 Formula 1 season, which Max Verstappen might just take.
