Tim Allen Opens Up About Age Gap With 'Shifting Gears' Co-Star Jenna Elfman

With 'Shifting Gears', Tim Allen stepped into the role of a sitcom widower, marking his first time playing this character. His character, Matt Parker, is now venturing into the dating pool, sparking an interesting dynamic with his co-star, Jenna Elfman's Eve. As it turns out, Tim Allen is quite candid about his views on age gaps, particularly in Hollywood. He has been married to Jane Hajduk since 2006, and there's a 14-year age difference between them. However, when it comes to how he and Jenna Elfman look together, he admits it can be 'creepy.'

"It depends on the pictures," he shared with US Weekly. "It gets creepy for me at a certain age, and we're right at that border. If Jenna didn't look so damn nice, then our age gap isn't that much."

He also revealed that he lets his hair go natural and Jenna looks particularly young on camera, which adds to the age gap dynamic. But when they both look good in pictures, it's less of an issue for him.

"I have a prediction for how 'Shifting Gears' Season 3 will kick off for Riley after the terrible Season 2 ending," he joked. "The show introduced Hallmark's Luke Macfarlane as a member of the Parker family, and it's an interesting storyline."

While waiting for 'Shifting Gears' to hit ABC's midseason schedule, both current seasons can be streamed via Disney+ subscription.

"It hasn't really come out - except when they joke about, 'Well, a guy your age,'" Tim said. "When they have her making jokes about it, it's not my preference, but I said, 'It's admitting what is there.'"

The 'Shifting Gears' creative team is committed to keeping Matt's age in check with his dating life. They brought in Angela Kinsey, who's the same age as Jenna Elfman, to date Matt. As long as he doesn't start wolf-whistling at any of Riley's friends, we're all good here!
