Tropical Storm Warning Issued as Storm Barrels Toward Texas Coast

Tropical Storm Arthur continues to gather strength and move steadily toward the Texas coast.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm is moving toward the northeast at about 6 mph and is expected to bring life-threatening rainfall and dangerous flash flooding to parts of Texas and Louisiana.

As of the latest advisory from the NHC, the storm is forecast to move offshore the Texas coast tonight, travel parallel to the upper Texas coast on Wednesday, and then make landfall in extreme eastern Texas or southwestern Louisiana late Wednesday or early Thursday.

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the northwestern Gulf Coast from Sargent, Texas, to Morgan City, Louisiana.

This powerful storm will not impact South Florida.
