Two Firefighters Suspended After Getting into a Brawl on Live TV

Two Belfast firefighters who were caught on camera getting into a physical altercation during a recent disorder have been suspended.

The incident occurred last week at the Department for Infrastructure site after a vehicle was set on fire. A fire crew, including the two individuals involved, was dispatched to the scene where they were caught on camera shoving each other on two separate occasions.

According to sources, the two firefighters are "best mates" and claimed that the incident was just a case of harmless banter between friends. However, their actions were deemed unacceptable and they were asked to provide statements after the incident.

The crew returned to the station for their weekly training session where they were informed that they had been suspended on full pay. They were then asked to hand back their pagers and were escorted from the premises.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) declined to comment on the matter, citing a policy of not discussing individual employee issues.

The Fire Brigades Union has been approached for comment.
