Tyra Banks, the renowned model and creator of the hit reality TV show 'America's Next Top Model,' has filed a massive lawsuit against Netflix.
The lawsuit claims that Netflix falsely portrayed Banks in the three-part docuseries 'Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model.'
Released in February, the documentary explored the show's meteoric rise and immense cultural impact, featuring an interview with Banks and her former collaborators, including creative director Jay Manuel and runway coach J. Alexander.
Banks' attorneys argue that the docuseries selectively edited her interview, cutting out parts where she took responsibility for the show's controversies.
They claim that out of the hours of answers provided, the producers used only about 16 minutes, stripping context and reassembling the footage to support a false narrative.
The team also alleges that Banks' interview was edited to make it appear as though she was not willing to take accountability for the incidents discussed.
The lawsuit seeks damages and the removal of Banks' face from the soundtrack album cover for the documentary.
Before taking legal action, Banks' team had asked Netflix for the unedited footage of her interview but was denied. Netflix also did not provide Banks with an opportunity to respond to allegations from other participants in the show.
