After the UFC significantly increased its bonus money for the Freedom 250 event at the White House, multiple fighters went home with their wallets bursting at the seams.
The promotion tripled the Fight of the Night bonus from $100,000 to $400,000 and boosted the Performance of the Night bonus from $100,000 to $425,000. In the main event, Justin Gaethje defeated Ilia Topuria to win the undisputed lightweight championship and earned both Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night, meaning that he took home a massive $825,000 in bonus money.
Topuria, who suffered his first career loss when his corner called off the fight after the fourth round, earned an extra $400,000 for being part of the Fight of the Night.
Ciryl Gane collected the remaining $425,000 Performance of the Night bonus after defeating Alex Pereira by second-round knockout in the co-main event, claiming the interim heavyweight championship. Pereira was attempting to become the first fighter in the company's history to win a title in three different divisions.
Adding to the electrifying atmosphere, the other five fights also ended in knockouts, leading the UFC to award $25,000 knockout bonuses to Sean O'Malley, Josh Hokit, Mauricio Ruffy, Bo Nickal, and Diego Lopes.
The UFC is on a roll following its thrilling event at the White House, and the promotion plans to keep the momentum going when Conor McGregor makes his highly anticipated return against Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329 on July 11.
