UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has assured that Henry Nowak deserves a legacy that goes beyond the tragedy of his untimely death.
ZONAUTARA.com reports that Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old student, was fatally stabbed by Vickrum Digwa in December 2025. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer paid his condolences to Nowak's family and stated that the young man 'deserves a legacy that surpasses the horrific circumstances of his death.' This statement came after he met with Nowak's family at 10 Downing Street on Thursday afternoon.
The horrific incident sparked widespread outrage after footage showed a police officer handcuffing Nowak while he was lying on the ground, despite claiming he had been stabbed. Digwa, 23, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years for the murder.
Ahead of the private meeting with Henry's father, Mark Nowak, mother Lucy Ross, and stepmother Katie Woodcock, Sir Keir expressed his condolences, highlighting Henry's 'goodness, warmth, and love of football,' which was 'cruelly taken from him in a horrific way.'
He reiterated his commitment, stating, 'Henry deserves a legacy that goes beyond the horrific circumstances of his death, and I am determined to make that happen.'
On the other side, Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has also met with Nowak's family, saying they do not want 'anger to destroy communities.' They have appealed to politicians to work across party lines and faiths to rebuild trust in the police, which has been 'shattered because of what has happened.'
I am in agreement with them,' Badenoch said. The Reform UK spokesperson described the death of Henry as 'a tragedy that should never have happened' and stated that the party has been in touch with the Nowak family.
