UNI token surges as crypto market holds its breath for the FOMC meeting
Bitcoin has been facing selling pressure ahead of today's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) interest-rate decision under the leadership of new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh. The largest cryptocurrency pulled back below $65,000 after trading near $67,000 just a day earlier, CoinDesk data shows. The broader market, including the CoinDesk 20 Index (CD200), has seen a decline of 1.2% since midnight UTC, with all but four tokens experiencing a drop in value.

The market's main focus for the week is the FOMC meeting under new leadership, with market expectations of interest rate hikes already priced in through 2027, according to Laser Digital's weekly note. Although the market is pricing in no change in the fed funds rate at this meeting, investors are looking forward to Warsh's post-meeting press conference for signals on his views on inflation. Given Warsh's criticism of the Fed's frequent press conferences and detailed forecasting, he may face questions on his stance.

Uniswap's UNI token has surged another 20% over 24 hours, driven by Standard Chartered's bullish forecast of $100 by 2030. In contrast, NEAR, INJ, and several stablecoin-related assets have dropped by as much as 8%.

Exchange volumes in May saw a decline of 3.45% to $4.41 trillion, reaching its lowest point since September 2024. Despite this, RWA perpetual futures volumes rose 10.4% against the trend, achieving a new all-time high.

Ringkasan

UNI token surges while the rest of the crypto market looks to Fed's Warsh for guidance on interest rates.
