As the 2026 MLB season heats up, bettors are on the lookout for the next big opportunity to cash in on home runs. Wednesday's slate of games offers a thrilling chance to wager on some of the league's top sluggers, including Bryce Harper, Cody Bellinger, and a talented Mets rookie.
For those not up to speed, home run prop bets are a type of wager that focuses on the likelihood of a player hitting a home run in a specific game. These bets can be a fun and lucrative way to engage with the action, but they also require a deep understanding of the game and its players.
So, who are the experts recommending for today's home run prop bets? Sports Illustrated's own resident expert, Peter, has put together a list of four must-play picks for the day's action.
First up is the Phillies' star Bryce Harper, who's been in a bit of a slump lately but still remains one of the most feared hitters in the league. Harper's got a history of crushing right-handed pitching, and with the Marlins' Sandy Alcantara on the mound, he might just be the perfect antidote for a player on a cold streak.
"Alcantara's got a 5.42 ERA over his last 12 starts, and he's allowed 12 home runs in 15 outings," Peter explains. "Eight of those homers have come in his last five starts, so Harper might be due for a big game."
Next up is Yankees star Cody Bellinger, who's been on a tear all season long. With 10 home runs in 2026, Bellinger's got the skills and experience to take down even the toughest pitching staffs. And with Anthony Kay on the mound for the White Sox, Bellinger might just have the perfect matchup to break through for a big win.
"Bellinger's got a great history against left-handed pitching, and Kay's been one of the worst starters in the league against right-handed hitters," Peter notes. "With his consistency and ability to hit it out of the park, I think he's a great bet for home runs today."
Last but certainly not least is the Mets' rookie Carson Benge, who's been a pleasant surprise for bettors all season long. With seven home runs in 2026, Benge's got the power and potential to break through for a big win, especially against the Reds' Nick Lodolo.
"Lodolo's struggled with the long ball this season, and Benge's got a great record against left-handed pitching," Peter points out. "With his speed and agility on the basepaths, I think Benge's a great bet for home runs today."
And for players who like to play it a little safer, Peter's also got a pick on the Royals' Jac Caglianone, who's been on a tear lately. With eight home runs in 2026 and a solid record against right-handed pitching, Caglianone's got the skills and experience to take down even the toughest pitching staffs.
"Caglianone's got a great record against pitchers who struggle with the long ball, and Littell's got a 5.32 ERA this season," Peter says. "With his speed and agility on the basepaths, I think he's a great bet for home runs today."
