Unveiling the Mysterious Hunting Behavior of Orcas: A Window into Their Complex Social Dynamics

A recent study published in the peer-reviewed journal Frontiers in Ethology has shed new light on the complex hunting behavior of orcas, specifically their interaction with giant sunfish. The research team, led by marine biologist Erick Higuera, observed two intriguing encounters between orcas and sunfish in Mexico's Gulf of California. What makes these observations even more remarkable is the possibility that the orcas may be engaging in a form of hunting 'game' or play, which challenges our current understanding of these intelligent predators.
