Pemerintah Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang: Bumi Muda Sedia Pulih dan Bangkit — Informasi Terbaru
On Monday at 11:15 p.m., the National Weather Service (NWS) Pendleton OR issued an updated red flag warning valid for Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. for the Lower Columbia Basin.
Get ready for gusty winds of 20 to 30 mph with potential gusts of up to 45 mph and relative humidity dropping as low as 19%.
The NWS cautions that windy conditions combined with dry fuels increase the risk of wildfire spread, noting that 'any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.'
This red flag warning remains in effect until Tuesday at 11 p.m.
A red flag warning signifies that extreme fire weather conditions are currently in effect or are about to be. The NWS states that warm temperatures, low humidities, and stronger winds combine to increase the risk of fires spreading rapidly.
To stay safe during this period, the NWS advises:
1. Secure burn barrels: Ensure burn barrels are equipped with a weighted metal cover featuring holes no larger than 3/4 of an inch.
2. Handle smoking materials carefully: Avoid carelessly discarding lit cigarette butts and refrain from flicking cigarettes or matches from moving vehicles, as this can ignite dry vegetation and potentially start a wildfire.
3. Extinguish outdoor fires properly: Diligently extinguish all outdoor fires by suffocating them with water and stirring until complete cooling. Submerge charcoal in water until it's no longer hot. Never leave live charcoal unattended.
4. Never leave fires unattended: Refrain from leaving any fire unattended, as even minor sparks can be carried into leaves or grass, potentially igniting a larger fire.
Understanding the severity of a red flag warning and following these precautions is crucial in reducing the risk of wildfires during these hazardous conditions.
Stay informed and prioritize your safety to protect lives and property.
