Verstappen Tipped to Suit Ferrari Over Mercedes

Max Verstappen is predicted to make a stunning move in Formula 1.

David Coulthard believes Max Verstappen would be a better fit at Ferrari than Mercedes as the Formula 1 star's future continues to be a topic of discussion.

Verstappen has repeatedly hinted at his future in F1 this season, saying in Miami that he would take his time before making a decision.

His frustration stems not only from Red Bull's difficult start to the season but also his dislike of F1's regulations, which he compares to the video game 'Mario Kart'.

The Dutch driver has long been on Mercedes' radar, with Team Principal Toto Wolff admitting it was a mistake not to openly approach Verstappen last year.

However, former F1 winner David Coulthard does not think Mercedes would be the best choice for Verstappen.

Speaking on the Up to Speed podcast, Coulthard said: 'I think Max is actually more suited to the Ferrari world than the Mercedes world.'

'I know they have a good relationship, and I know he races with Mercedes in the GT3 series he competes in, but in terms of the freedom to be Max, I think Ferrari would be more comfortable.

'You just turn up, drive fast, maybe win a race, and go home.'

Despite continuously fuelling speculation that he may part ways with Red Bull, Verstappen has a history of stating his desire to remain with the team for his career.

Commentator and former W Series driver Nomi Schiff added: 'I think if things continue the way they are at the start of the season, maybe he'll think 'How can we make this work' or 'Can we make this work', because we know they're having talks behind the scenes.'

'But things seem to be improving, and I know Max has said several times that if everything goes well at Red Bull, he has no desire to leave, so I think the pressure is on Red Bull to ensure they give him the best and give him a car he can use to win so he stays until the end of his contract.'
