The Philadelphia Eagles organization has a long tradition of producing successful rookies year after year. But have you ever wondered what goes through a rookie's mind on their first day in the league? In this episode of All-Access, presented by Lincoln Financial, we'll take a closer look at the experiences of Makai Lemon, Eli Stowers, and Uar Bernard, three talented rookies who recently signed with the Eagles.
Our first guest, Makai Lemon, had an amazing start to his Eagles' career. As he walked into the NovaCare Complex, he felt a mix of excitement and nerves. "I was nervous, but I was also super excited," Lemon recalls. "I'd been working towards this moment for years, and to finally be here was just surreal."
Eli Stowers, another rookie wide receiver, shared similar feelings. "I was really nervous, but I tried to stay calm and focused on the task at hand," Stowers said. "I knew I had to prove myself and show the coaches what I could do." Uar Bernard, the team's top draft pick, had an even more intense experience. "I'd been in situations like this before, but nothing compares to the Eagles' atmosphere. It's electric," Bernard explained. "I felt a rush of emotions – from nerves to excitement – and I tried to channel it all into my performance on the field."
As they prepared to take on their first NFL practice, the rookies knew they had a lot to learn. "The first day was overwhelming, to be honest," Lemon admits. "There were so many new faces, new plays, and new techniques to learn. But our coaches and teammates were all super supportive, which made a big difference."
The Eagles' playbook is notoriously complex, with intricate plays and strategies. But Stowers and Bernard were determined to master it as quickly as possible. "We had a lot of meetings and film sessions, and our coaches broke down the plays into smaller chunks," Stowers notes. "It was tough, but we pushed ourselves to learn as much as we could in a short amount of time."
Uar Bernard, on the other hand, was more focused on the team's social dynamics. "I loved the team's camaraderie – everyone was super friendly and welcoming. I felt like I'd been with them for years, not just a few days."
As the rookies settled into their new routine, they began to realize the enormity of their responsibility. "It hit us that we're not just here to learn and improve our skills. We're here to help the team win games and bring joy to the fans," Lemon emphasized. "That realization motivated us to train even harder and give it our all every day."
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Stowers expressed his enthusiasm for the competition. "We know we have tough opponents this season, but we're ready for the challenge. We've got a great team, solid coaching, and a killer work ethic. I'm confident we'll make some noise in the league." Bernard nodded in agreement, his eyes shining with anticipation. "I've always dreamed of playing in the NFL, and now that it's finally happening, I just want to soak up every moment and leave it all on the field."
We wish Makai Lemon, Eli Stowers, and Uar Bernard all the best in their Eagles' careers! To stay up-to-date with their latest developments, follow the Philadelphia Eagles on social media or tune into All-Access, presented by Lincoln Financial.
