World Cup Roundup: Scotland's Comeback Stuns Brazil and Morocco, Socceroos Leave Tournament Hosts in Shambles

The thrilling third matchday of the 2026 FIFA World Cup came to a close with plenty of drama and surprises. Brazil and Morocco played out a scintillating draw, while Scotland secured a historic 1-0 win over Brazil to take top spot in Group C.

Come and find out what else you might have missed from Day 3 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup:

Switzerland maintained its unbeaten record against Asian Football Confederation teams in the World Cup, having drawn against South Korea in 2006.

Vinícius Júnior has now scored in consecutive World Cups.

Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker made a thrilling double save in stoppage time to preserve the draw against Morocco. When Neil El Aynaoui tested him from distance, Alisson spilled the initial effort before recovering quickly to deflect the loose ball out from underneath Ayoube Amaimouni's feet.

Morocco opened the scoring against Brazil, but the clever assist from Brahim Diaz that set up Ismael Saibari's opener took our breath away.

Brazil levelled the score against Morocco as Vinícius Júnior showcased his trademark flair with a stunning solo effort. Receiving the ball near the edge of the box, he expertly dispatched Bruno Guimarães's pass, beat a Moroccan defender, and fired in an unstoppable shot from his right foot.

Scotland's long-awaited World Cup goal drought ended at 28 years thanks to a 1-0 victory over Haiti. Despite the Scots struggling with a convincing performance, it was an emotional night for the Scotland faithful in attendance.

The build-up to Scotland's goal started when Grant Hanley launched a long ball to Che Adams. Adams controlled it beautifully before laying it off to Ben Doak, who beat his man down the right and launched a low cross into the box, from which Haitian goalkeeper Johny Placide punched the ball away but only for it to fall at John McGinn's feet for an easy tap-in.

The Scotland faithful celebrated their team's momentous victory, despite still having work to do to solidify their position in the tournament.
