Yankees Break Tie in 9th Inning, Earn Sixth Win in Seven Games

The New York Yankees secured their sixth win in seven games after tying the Toronto Blue Jays 8-3 on Sunday.

The Yankees have shown strength in winning their seventh game when scoring the go-ahead run in the ninth inning or later.

The game began with Paul Goldschmidt hitting an infield single off Braydon Fisher, which advanced when Fisher threw an error. Ryan McMahon replaced Goldschmidt, and Ben Rice drilled a 381-foot homer for his 19th home run of the season.

Jasson Domínguez and Jazz Chisholm Jr. received a walk before José Caballero connected off Tommy Nance for his sixth home run of the season.

The AL East-leading Yankees won 3-1 the previous day when Goldschmidt hit a tiebreaking homer in the ninth.

Camilo Doval obtained a win after striking out two of the three batters he faced in the eighth inning.

However, Toronto's Davis Schneider hit a solo home run, his second of the season, but it was insufficient to help the Blue Jays.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider was ejected for arguing with home plate umpire Steven Jaschinski over a balk call against Jeff Hoffman, which put Chisholm at third base with one out in the eighth.

Ali Sánchez and Anthony Volpe had back-to-back RBI hits in the second.

However, the Blue Jays answered with two-out RBI hits by Kazuma Okamoto in the third and Nathan Lukes in the fourth.

Volpe's two-out single restored New York's lead in the top of the sixth, but Davis Schneider homered in the bottom half.

The Yankees face White Sox RHP Davis Martin (9-2, 2.41) next, while the Blue Jays begin a three-game series at Boston on Tuesday.
