Ayrton Senna was known for his car collection, some of which he used for daily driving and others for his hobby. One of his notable collections is the Mercedes-Benz 190E Cosworth, which is currently up for auction at RM Sotheby's.
According to RM Sotheby's official website, the Mercedes-Benz 190E Cosworth being auctioned was produced in 1985 and was bought by Senna in new condition. This car was also used by Senna for his daily driving when he started his racing career in Europe.
The 40-year-old car is currently in Australia. After Senna's passing in the 1994 San Marino GP accident, the car was sold to an Englishman in 1994. The car's owner then moved to Australia in 2004 and brought the car with him.
Despite being 40 years old, the car is still in great condition. Some of its original parts from 1985 are still intact, such as the standard silver exterior finish and the original wheels.
The car also has a nearly flawless body condition. The interior also maintains its original configuration with black leather seats.
One notable feature of the car is the signature of Niki Lauda from the 2016 Australian GP. The car also comes with additional items such as a tool kit, manual book, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and a Becker Mexico stereo.
The car's engine, which is a 2.3L 4-cylinder engine designed by Cosworth, still retains its original configuration. It produces 185 horsepower and is paired with a 5-speed manual dogleg-shift transmission.
The auction for this car is expected to fetch a high price, with RM Sotheby's pricing it at £220,000 to £250,000 (approximately IDR 4.9 to 5.6 billion).
