Aztec Connect Hacked: $2.19 Million Stolen from Ethereum

Aztec Connect, a privacy feature on the Ethereum blockchain, has been hacked, resulting in the theft of $2.19 million. The incident occurred on June 14, 2026, when an unidentified hacker exploited a vulnerability in the platform's smart contracts.

Aztec Connect was designed to allow users to interact with decentralized finance services while keeping their transactions private. However, the platform was shut down in March 2023, and its smart contracts were left to run on the blockchain, holding real funds.

The hacker took advantage of a flaw in the contract's validation logic, which allowed them to submit manipulated proofs and credit value without corresponding deposits. The stolen funds were then transferred to a freshly created wallet.

The incident highlights a structural weakness in decentralized finance, where abandoned smart contracts can remain on the blockchain, holding funds and potentially vulnerable to attacks. This case is not isolated, as a similar attack occurred on Raydium, a platform on the Solana network, resulting in a loss of approximately $1.3 million.

The Aztec Connect incident has been confirmed by Aztec Labs, but the team has stated that they are unable to intervene, as the contract is immutable. The Foundation Aztec has clarified that the vulnerability does not affect its current projects.

Ringkasan

A hacker has stolen $2.19 million from Aztec Connect, a privacy feature built on Ethereum, despite the platform being shut down since March 2023.
