Botafogo's Resilience: Turning Down Palmeiras' 28 Million Euro Offer for Danilo

Botafogo turned down the 28 million euro offer (approximately R$160 million) made by Palmeiras to sign defensive midfielder Danilo, according to ge.

The decision to keep the player was made after a meeting between the club’s board and the player’s representatives on Thursday morning.

Even with indications that the São Paulo club would be willing to raise the offer to 30 million euros, the Rio club’s leadership maintained an uncompromising stance.

Botafogo’s intention is to negotiate the midfielder’s transfer only for amounts between 35 and 40 million euros, with preference given to moves to European football.

The arrival of GDA to the club’s management strengthened the position of not reinforcing a direct domestic rival for values below the club’s internal valuation. Even so, the player viewed a return to Palmeiras favorably.

Zenit, from Russia, also showed interest under similar financial terms, but the option was rejected by the player and did not please the directors because of the payment conditions offered.

Included in the squad for the match against Vitória this Thursday, Danilo will reach 13 appearances in the Brasileirão if he takes the field, which would definitively prevent his transfer to any other team in the competition this season.
