Chicago Cubs Shut Down by Giants in 5-1 Loss (6/14/26)

The Chicago Cubs saw their three-game winning streak come to an end with a 5-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park on Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Rolison started on the mound for the Cubs, but was replaced by Colin Rea in the second inning. However, Rea struggled in the fifth, giving up two extra-base hits that put San Francisco up 3-0.

The Giants added to their lead with a single run in the seventh inning, and a throwing error by Casey Schmitt in the eighth allowed the Cubs' only run of the game.

San Francisco closed out the game with a blooper by Daniel Susac, securing a 5-1 win.

The Cubs were unable to capitalize on their early chances, as Ian Happ grounded into a double play in the first inning.

Despite making progress in the series by winning the first two games, the Cubs were unable to sweep the Giants and even the series at a loss.

The team now looks to turn things around at Wrigley Field this week, where they will host the Colorado Rockies for three games.

The Rox arrive at Wrigley Monday evening at 7:05pm CT, when Shuta Imanaga takes on Michael Lorenzen in a matchup that will be broadcast on Marquee with a radio feed on The Score.
