Dana White Unveils Unconventional Perspective on UFC 330 Main Events

The UFC's highly anticipated event, UFC 330, is set to take place in Philadelphia, a city that has not hosted a UFC event since 2019. This upcoming numbered event, UFC 101, is the first since 2009, generating immense excitement among MMA enthusiasts. UFC CEO Dana White, in a recent appearance on the 'Exciting Mics' podcast, shed light on his thoughts on the main and co-main events of the evening.

Spearheading the event, White was joined by hosts Reed Blankenship and Cooper DeJean for an extensive discussion. The conversation ranged from White's take on Boston versus Philadelphia sports rivalries to his favorite local dining spots and even speculations on NFL players who might have transitioned to the world of mixed martial arts. It was clear that White's primary focus, however, was on the forthcoming UFC 330.

When asked about the main event bouts, White expressed his anticipation of seeing Islam Makhachev defend his title against Ian Machado Garry. Although he was incorrect about the stakes of the fight, White did emphasize the difficulty posed by Garry's takedown defense skills, which would challenge Makhachev's dominant takedown style. White posed an intriguing question, speculating if Garry can successfully evade Makhachev's takedowns and secure the title.

Makhachev, in his 16th consecutive victory, stands at the threshold of surpassing Anderson Silva's remarkable feat of winning 16 consecutive fights. White's incorrect understanding notwithstanding, his comments on the significance of the event and its contenders are undeniable. White also praised Ireland, which has proven to be an exceptional fight city, having recently hosted Zuffa Boxing 10 on Saturday.

The co-headliner between Mackenzie Dern and Gillian Robertson was another topic of discussion, with White crediting Dern with a tough title defense. However, his genuine enthusiasm for Robertson is evident, who faces her first title fight against Dern. White described Robertson as a formidable opponent with a relentless fighting spirit.

Ahead of the highly anticipated event, the UFC will hold a pre-fight press conference on Thursday at 6 p.m. followed by a double-edged presser and ceremonial weigh-ins on Friday. The UFC 330 will kick off at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday with main card action followed by the preliminary bout. Fans can catch the entire event live on Paramount+, which provides subscription-based access to all UFC live events.
