The New York Knicks have finally ended their 53-year NBA title drought, and it was no small feat.
Aiding in this monumental achievement was none other than shooting guard Josh Hart, a Montgomery County, Maryland, native.
Hart played a pivotal role in the Knicks' successful season, culminating in a typical do-it-all performance during the winning game.
He took to the court for an impressive 39 minutes, scoring 13 points while notching a team-high 11 rebounds.
'I try to put my heart out there, I try to do whatever I can do to help the team win,' Hart said during a podium appearance alongside his twin 3-year-old sons.
'I don't care about points, I don't care about those things. I'm willing to sacrifice whatever it takes for this city, for this jersey, for this franchise, and to win it, man,' he added.
Born and raised in Silver Spring, Hart's basketball journey began in the Montgomery County Recreation League.
He went on to earn recognition as first-team All-Met at Sidwell Friends School in 2013 after transferring from Wheaton High School, and later led the Villanova Wildcats to a NCAA title in 2016.
A stint with three teams in the first six years of his NBA career eventually led him to the New York Knicks, where he found a lasting home in 2023.
'I've been doubted so many times. You know, traded, had so much instability with what, seven, eight different head coaches and I found a home in New York and they embraced me for the person that I am, the player that I am,' Hart shared.
Josiah Brunson is part of the group, known as the 'Nova Knicks,' along with Mikal Bridges, who combined for 72 points on Saturday night and led Villanova to an NCAA championship in 2016, and 10 years later, they're NBA champions after defeating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90.
'I feel like definitely [former Villanova head] coach [Jay] Wright helped us be cut from a different cloth, and no matter what the moment is, it's never too big for us,' Hart said.
'We're champions before at the college level. Now we're champions as brothers at the ultimate level, and those guys, men, they're warriors and nothing they do surprises me. I love those guys, and we're going to be friends and brothers for a lifetime,' Hart concluded.
Following this monumental achievement, a parade for the Knicks is set to take place on Thursday, and the potential to be the largest championship parade in New York City's storied sports history.
This is truly a momentous occasion for the entire city. As the celebration continues, it's clear that Josh Hart's dedication and perseverance have paid off in the best way possible.
