With a rich history of hosting top-notch sporting events, Hilton Coliseum is set to play host to this highly anticipated showdown, promising an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages.

The Pacers have been one of the most dominant teams in the league, thanks in no small part to the incredible contributions of their superstar point guard, Tyrese Haliburton. A former Iowa State standout who holds the school record for assists in a single game, Haliburton has consistently showcased his exceptional skills on the court, earning All-NBA honors in both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. He has also led his team to the NBA Finals, cementing his reputation as one of the top players in the league. Haliburton's impressive career trajectory is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport, inspiring fans and fellow athletes alike with his remarkable achievements.

Haliburton's incredible journey has been nothing short of remarkable. Despite missing the 2025-26 season with a debilitating Achilles injury sustained in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, he has shown remarkable resilience and determination. His perseverance in the face of adversity is a shining example of what it means to be a true winner, and his continued success on the court is a testament to the depth of his talent and his unwavering commitment to excellence.

This highly-anticipated showdown marks the first time the NBA has brought a preseason game to Hilton Coliseum since 2018, when the Timberwolves faced off against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks emerged victorious in that contest, with Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the charge with 21 points. Now, fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the Timberwolves to Hilton Coliseum, hoping to see their favorite team come out on top in this exciting matchup.

Tickets for this much-anticipated event will go on sale starting September 9, giving fans ample time to secure their spot at the game. This preseason matchup is not only a chance for fans to see some of the best basketball talent on display but also an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the next crop of stars emerging from the collegiate ranks. Fellow former Cyclone point guard Tamin Lipsey, an Ames native who was undrafted in 2026 after completing his career at Iowa State, may also be in attendance, looking to make a statement and secure a spot on the Pacers' roster.

Lipsey's journey has been a compelling one, with the young point guard showcasing his skills in last month's NBA Summer League before an injury prematurely ended his summer. Now, he is looking to bounce back stronger than ever, and fans will be eager to see him in action. With his combination of speed, agility, and ball-handling skills, he has all the makings of a top-notch NBA player, and this preseason game provides the perfect platform for him to showcase his talents.
