Marc Marquez, a MotoGP legend, has been hailed as the 'Ayrton Senna of MotoGP' by Formula 1 star Carlos Sainz.
This seven-time world champion made his MotoGP debut in 2013 with Honda and won his first championship in his debut season, followed by five more titles in six consecutive seasons.
However, his career was marred by a severe arm injury in 2020, which required three major surgeries in that year and a fourth surgery in 2022 to repair his humerus bone, which had lost over 30 degrees of mobility.
Determined to make a comeback, Marquez moved to Gresini Ducati in 2024 and went on to win three races last season, followed by a promotion to the factory Ducati team in 2025.
His incredible journey saw him winning 11 Grand Prix this season, securing his seventh world championship title, six years after his last victory.
With his impressive win record, many consider Marquez one of the greatest of all time.
In a podcast interview, Carlos Sainz compared Marquez to Ayrton Senna, saying, 'Marquez is the Ayrton Senna of MotoGP. It's just that with how we experience it now, we don't realize it.'
'When he retires, and as time passes, everyone will remember Marc Marquez as the one who's most similar to Ayrton Senna in Formula 1.'
With Senna's three Formula 1 world championships between 1988 and 1991, and his tragic death in the Imola crash in 1994, the Brazilian is widely regarded as one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time, alongside names like Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton.
